A Sleeve Gastrectomy is a restrictive procedure – it restricts the amount of food which can be eaten at one time by reducing the stomach size. About 75% of the stomach is removed leaving a narrow gastric tube – the ‘gastric sleeve’. This procedure is normally performed laparascopically via small incisions and using a laparocope (video camera) and long instruments.
